A Baby Shower, Blessing and 2 Mission Farewells (Talk about a productive weekend!)

Last weekend on April 13th, my amazing sister-in-laws put on a baby shower for Grant and I. It was so fun and because we strategically planned the date, all of my sisters and all 6 of my sister-in-laws could be there, which meant so much! My mom and Grandma Peterson came down as well. My best friend Jaymee who I hadn't seen in like 3 months (boo!) was able to come down and stay for the whole weekend. I also had so many other friends and family that came to see (and spoil!) baby Grant. He is going to be the best dressed little man around! It was so much fun getting to see everyone and I am very thankful to everyone who came.

Forsyth Woman (Missing our lovely Michelle)

The next day was a very special day in our family. We were able to work it out so that we could have Grant's baby blessing the same day as Rex, Bet and Tyson's mission farewells. It was so amazing watching my sweet husband gently hold Grant in his arms, surrounded by all of the amazing men that will play such an important role in this little boy's life, and give him a name and a blessing. It was a beautiful blessing, the spirit was so strong and my testimony of the power of the Priesthood was greatly strengthened. I know that our Heavenly Father truly loves us by giving those men who are worthy, the priesthood to act in Jesus' name here on earth. I am so grateful for Garth and his worthiness, his strength and his example to me. I know he will be an amazing father to our little boy, he already is!

Our New Family of Three

After the blessing, we were able to hear from Rex, Bet and Tyson as they gave their mission farewell talks. Rex and Bet were called to the Scotland/Ireland mission and Tyson will be serving in Jacksonville, Florida. As they shared their testimonies with us of the gospel and of our Saviour Jesus Christ, I felt the strength behind them and I know that they will be amazing, hardworking missionaries. I am so proud of them and I feel so blessed to be a part of an eternal family.

Later that night we were able to be there as Tyson got set a part as a missionary. I have never sent a family member off on a mission so it was a very memorable experience that i felt lucky to be a part of. I will miss him lots but I am so excited for him to go and serve the Lord.
See you in 2 years!

  1. Saying goodbye to Tyson was hard...I'm going to be a mess when mom and dad leave.
