Our Calgary Summer (Part 1)

I am going to get this part out of the way so we can get to the good stuff: Our summer started out pretty rough.

Both Asher and Grant were so sick, on and off, for weeks. I couldn't keep up with changing their sheets and I didn't know what to do.

There was one day where I was so worried about Grant because he literally threw up everything he ate/drank and he just wanted to sleep all day, nothing could keep him awake, not even Paw Patrol.

I also hurt my back so I was out for a couple days which made life feel just absolutely impossible.

One night, Asher woke up with a terrible wheezy cough and he was having trouble breathing. We immediately called 911, but as we were on the phone with them he slowly started to calm down and breathe. Seeing that the situation wasn't life threatening anymore, we told them not to send an ambulance and we woke up Grant and drove to the hospital. As luck would have it, our car brakes started giving us problems and every time we would brake, they would make the most retched horrible sound. While they were the least of our worries, it sure made the drive that much worse.

This night was hands down the worst night of my life. I stayed in the car with Grant while Garth took Asher in. Luckily they realize a toddler that isn't breathing properly is top priority and they took him in right away. We got there around midnight so while Grant slept I waited for news from Garth about what was going on. Around 2:00 am he called to tell me that they gave him medication and wanted to keep him around another hour to see how he reacts. At 3 he told me they needed another hour and then finally around 4 in the morning he told me that they were going to admit him and that I should take Grant home and he would call me in the morning.

I was an absolute wreck and didn't want to leave but that is one of the hard parts about having two babies is that even though I wanted to be with Asher, I had to take care of Grant too. Thank goodness for Garth, I know that as bad as my night was, his was so much worse. When I got home the sun was starting to rise and as guilty as I felt to do so, I went to sleep for a couple hours.
As soon as I could find someone to watch Grant for me, I made my way back to the hospital where I found the happiest sick baby waiting for me.

While I was relieved to see him acting like his normal self, the doctors told us that he had croup and he would have to stay in the hospital at least one more night. We ended up staying there for 3 days and if anyone knows how hard it is to contain a toddler, you can imagine how difficult it was trying to keep him entertained in that small room for that long. While we were all a little insane, it could have been so much worse without the help of our family and friends who watched Grant and made us dinners.

The day we left the hospital felt like the best day and Grant was so excited to have his brother home again. While it took awhile for him to get back to normal again, we are so happy that it wasn't worse than it was and that he is healthy once again!

OKAY. Now onto the fun stuff.

We went to my parent's ward BBQ at Bragg Creek and a fun time throwing rocks.

We went out for Breakfast to celebrate Rachel's birthday!

We got to spend a lot of time at Grandma's house.

We found a new favorite downtown spot at Central Memorial Park. It's beautiful, there is a splash pad and there are always food trucks right by.

Our Sunday's and mornings are extra valuable during our summers so we made sure to always get out and explore Calgary.

This was literally the ONLY cute picture we got on Mother's Day this year. The boys were absolute monsters and would cry every time I tried to hold/hug/touch them. They only wanted Daddy all day and so it was definitely the worst Mother's Day ever. Luckily, I have an amazing husband who made up for them.

We went to Heritage Park and fun on the train, the rides and seeing all the "horsies." I also learned that Grant is scared of heights as he did NOT love the ferris wheel.

Hanging out with his future wife.

Discovery Treehouse with Aunt Jaymee

There was a cool park right across the street from our house so whenever we were bored of playing on the playground we would spend sometime running up and down the hill.

More exploring...

More rocks...

May was a pretty exciting month for my youngest sister Mikayla. She graduated from Highschool (was the most beautiful grad ever) and stared in her school musical. She was so unbelievable I went back a second time to watch the final performance.

When I heard Selena Gomez was coming to town I wanted to go so bad but I didn't have any idea who would want to go with me. My sister-in-law Cynthia had been wanting to go to a pop concert so we went together and had SO MUCH FUN. I was so impressed with the show she put on and I couldn't have picked a better person to go with.

We also had a really fun group date with Kim, Jordan and some other Vivint couples. After dinner at Earls, we went and tried an Escape Room for the first time. It was so much fun and we were SO close to getting out in time. Like literally 5 seconds too late. But it was so fun and then we finished off the night with shakes at Peter's.

We were also invited to a lovely dinner at Jackie and Ian's house. While we didn't take any pictures with them, we have some good ones of Grant playing the drums in their music room. He is kind of a natural.
